For the inductive food distribution system Caldotrolley from Blanco-Berndorf, Holst Porzellan manufactures system crockery suitable for the cold serving of salads, starters and desserts, as well as for serving breakfast and dinner. It is not common practice to serve hot beverages on induction-coated porcelain; instead, classic mugs, cups and jugs are used.

At Holst, we do not produce induction-compatible porcelain because we believe the costs are too high, the durability of the induction decoration is too short and the hygiene stability is too low. Despite more than 25 years of research and development, no porcelain manufacturer has yet achieved complete uniformity in heat generation through coatings. This is further complicated by the fact that induction coils in regeneration units transmit varying power values. This is why our porcelain is only suitable for use in induction systems for cold supply.

Despite this, there is significant potential for savings, as this food distribution system only requires a maximum of 2 to 3 induction-coated items. It is not necessary to use induction-compatible crockery for breakfast and dinner, which avoids the high costs associated with this type of dishware.

In many cases, generic products can help to offset the impact of rising costs. Both premium porcelain brands and the system manufacturer itself offer porcelain suitable for this food distribution system, but at a significantly higher price point than generic products. Holst porcelain is just as hardwearing, white and functional as the expensive branded crockery, but considerably more cost-effective. This was also acknowledged by the European Union in its market analysis in 2012. Generic porcelain is just as effective, but more economical. Since 2001, Holst Porzellan has been one of the leading suppliers of hospital porcelain and system crockery for conventional food distribution. Our porcelain is subject to regular laboratory tests and fully complies with the LFGB and FDA.
