Porcelain for the Federweißer season
An excerpt from the Holst Porzellan/Germany collection
When the young wine begins to ferment towards the end of summer, it is Federweißer season. In many wine regions, this time after the harvest is a special event, as wineries and cooperatives open their doors to serve Federweißer. Enjoying the young wine also includes a range of specialities to eat, which enhance and prolong the Federweißer experience. From light to hearty, we have put together a selection of suitable themes and articles for you in this product range excerpt.
Baking tins for Quiche Lorraine & onion tart
The most popular dish to accompany Federweißer in German wine-growing regions is onion tart, and in France it is Quiche Lorraine. Heartily prepared with bacon and onions, the tart's savoury flavour harmonises perfectly with the slightly bitter sweetness of Federweißer. Holst Porzellan offers five sizes of classic tartlet moulds made from high-quality oven-proof porcelain.
Bardolino wine jugs
The slightly cloudy Federweißer is stylishly served in porcelain carafes from the Bardolino series, which perfectly match the table setting and, with their capacities of 0.40 l and 0.50 l, keep the fresh wine cooler. And, of course, these beautiful wine jugs can also be used all year round for other types of wine.
Wine board in wood design made from high-quality feldspar porcelain
They look like wooden boards, but they are actually ‘Holst boards’ made of genuine feldspar porcelain. Three sizes are available in the Wood design line for serving all kinds of cheese platters, tarte flambées, snacks and light meals in an appealing and hygienic way.
Wood Design is a special decoration that we fire onto white porcelain at over 1,000 °C, ensuring that it meets even the highest hygiene standards. Its properties are particularly important for vegans and highly sensitive people. Whether as a cheese board, snack platter or tarte flambée plate, these porcelain plates with a wood design can be used in many ways to enhance a cosy evening.
In ‘B-grade’ quality with very minor surface imperfections, they are also very affordable. By the way: special prices for B-grade items are only available while stocks last!
Tarte flambée serving plate, white
Quiche Lorraine, tarte flambée and all the other delicious, savoury cake variations served with Federweißer take on a very special appearance when presented on innovative porcelain plates.
At wine festivals, wine fairs and street festivals in particular, delicacies that go well with wine are often served in small portions, which are then enjoyed standing up at bar tables or wine stall counters.
Instead of serving them on a ‘normal’ round plate, the Holst Porzellan collection offers some special and very functional serving plates for these little spring delicacies.
The triangular ‘slice serving plate’ is ideal for quiche slices cut from a round cake, and the two rectangular serving plates – in a fun disposable design – offer attractive space for rectangular portions.
Arena serving platters for Federweißer
The Federweißer season begins at the end of summer, when nature transforms its bright colours into autumnal earth tones.
The ‘Arena’ porcelain, with its reactive brown-greyish sand colour, fits perfectly into this season and, with its earthy colour scheme, underscores the character of autumnal dishes without appearing melancholic or wintery dark.
That is why we recommend serving Federweißer with the reactive ‘Arena’ porcelain with its effect glaze. Each piece is handmade and unique. Holst Porzellan is one of the few manufacturers to offer this type of reactive glaze on high-quality and therefore durable feldspar porcelain.
This type of coloured glaze is usually only available on low-fired ceramics or vitreous china, a type of sanitary ceramic. Arena, on the other hand, is made from genuine hard porcelain!
Sand-coloured winemaker's plate
Every wine from every vine and vineyard is something very special and represents the highest possible level of uniqueness. Many winemakers go to great lengths to make their wines stand out. Whether it's designer wine bottles, artistically designed labels, chamber prize coins, wine seals, DLG federal wine awards or Falstaff, they are all intended to emphasise the uniqueness of the winemaker and the wine.
In order to distinguish the delicacies accompanying the wine from the average, there are many ways to give the snack and winegrower's platters a high degree of uniqueness and recognition value.
The sand-coloured plates and platters in the Oasis series are porcelainware tailored to wine, with a connection to earth and soil. Unlike the Arena series, Oasis features a lighter sand-coloured full glaze, which is characterised by its extreme hardness and stability, particularly in commercial use – including at wine and vintners' festivals.
A perfect interplay of colours between food and wine!
