Stew Bowls
A soup that is served as a full meal is referred to as a stew. It should be noted that stews are typically served in larger portions than soups. Additionally, stews are more substantial and nutritionally dense than soups. We are unable to provide an explanation as to why stew garnishes are also referred to as soup garnishes. It is of the utmost importance that this type of soup is served in special stew bowls, which are distinguished from the usual soup bowls by their larger capacity, especially in the catering and restaurant industries.
At Holst Porzellan, we refer to bowls with a capacity of 0.60 L to around 1.10 L as stew bowls. The only exception to this is the GVE 050 stew bowl with spoon handles, which was named according to its place of use and the food served in it, as typical of institutional catering. It is worth noting that this soup bowl has gained a cult following in some trendy locations.
In addition to the more classic stews such as lentil stew, Gaisburger Marsch, Pichelsteiner, turnip and vegetable stew, goulash soup, etc., the stew menu also includes a variety of other dishes, made possible by the creativity of many chefs. A variety of other dishes are also available. Modern stews, such as pizza stew, soyanka, bockwurst stew and, of course, chilli con carne, have gained popularity thanks to the input of many creative chefs and the rise of steakhouses and Mexican cuisine.
Skills shortages, convenience and more flexible preparation times are also contributing to the resurgence of stews. Stews are no longer limited to white porcelain and are becoming increasingly popular. This "Soup and stew bowls" section showcases 20 stew bowls designed specifically for this meal, ranging from Asian noodle stew to courgette stew.
