Soup Plates
The soup plate is a highly contentious item in the catering industry. Holst Porzellan offers a comprehensive range of deep plates within the plate series, which we present to you here in relation to soup service.
As a manufacturer of professional hotel porcelain, we advise against the use of deep plates for serving soups at the table in the catering service business.For typical service businesses, we strongly recommend soup cups or soup bowls, such as those we offer in our Soup Inspiration range.
If soup tureens are served in table service, such as at wedding banquets, soup plates are strongly recommended.If guests are permitted to help themselves from a soup tureen, it is important to ensure that there is sufficient space and a clearly defined area for portioning the soup in a controlled manner. It is unfortunate when the table loses its lustre and grace after the second course due to soup splashes.
Gourmet soups can also be served in suitable porcelain soup plates, provided they have a deep mirror and a wide rim, such as the gourmet plates in the Style series. These plates correspond to the functional scope of a soup bowl and thus underline the event character of a very special presentation.
