Pasta, or rather the various types and preparation methods of noodles and spaghetti, is probably one of the most popular dishes in the world, along with pizza. Few foods have as many varieties as Italian pasta: from A for agnolini to Z for zitoni, there aremore than 70 more or less well-known types of durum wheat semolina pasta.

If you add the most popular types of pasta, such as spaghetti, cannelloni, farfalle, fettuccine and maccheroni, to the more common ones, such as salmon, carbonara, bolognese, chicken, mozzarella, ham and cheese, there are around 120 different types of pasta. Altogether, there are probably more than 1,000 restaurant variations and secret recipes for pasta.
