Lasagne
A casserole is a meal prepared in an oven. It can be served as a starter, main course or even dessert.
In addition to casseroles (gratins), which get their name from their main ingredient (potato casserole, pasta casserole, etc.), soufflé is a well-known dessert casserole. However, the most famous variant is probably lasagne. Lasagne al forno consists of several alternating layers of pasta sheets and a minced meat sauce in an oven dish, rounded off with grated Parmesan cheese.
Due to regional preferences and the rise of vegetarianism, modern cuisine has constantly invented new preparations with fish and seafood or with spinach, including a vegan version.
