Serve oysters properly
In our professional opinion, only a few items are suitable for serving oysters properly. This is due to the fact that both the ingredients for the oyster shell and the need to serve them chilled greatly limit the size and shape of the serving dishes.
For many decades, Holst Porzellan has been manufacturing the classic porcelain oyster plate, which was inspired by the French 'escargot tray' and is designed to serve six oysters. This oyster tray is designed to serve a substantial portion of oysters at the table. Additionally, oysters are frequently served individually at gourmet stands, accompanied by fine wine or champagne. This necessitates a distinctive shell shape for serving the oyster on an ice bed, with a handle or spoon to facilitate transportation to the mouth. The oyster bowls MS 101 for one oyster and MS 102 for two oysters offer this special feature. We recommend the Empire bowl as an appealing porcelain bowl for presenting an oyster in a crash-ice display. When filled with a little ice, it also provides the oyster with the necessary support.
