Nutritionists often recommend a dietary approach that involves eating a substantial breakfast, a moderate lunch, and a lighter dinner. This concept, often summarized as "eat breakfast like an emperor, lunch like a merchant, and dinner like a beggar," has gained popularity in recent years. Germany is a global leader in the variety of breakfast foods consumed. The German breakfast market offers an extensive range of bread and rolls, ham, cheese, sausage and cold cuts, juices, milk, tea and coffee, muesli, fruit and quark. Additionally, the German breakfast menu features an extensive selection of egg dishes, crêpes, and jams. Unfortunately, the typical working day on weekdays limits the time available for breakfast.
It is important to note that a healthy breakfast is not solely determined by its flavour and composition.It is of the utmost importance to ensure that serving dishes are hygienic and hypoallergenic in order to guarantee a healthy breakfast. This is equally applicable to breakfast in a hotel setting as it is in a domestic one. It is a common practice to make unhealthy choices at breakfast, which can have negative consequences for our health.Please find below a few tips to help you optimise your breakfast routine:

Never put cardboard egg cartons in the fridge (risk of salmonella).

Never leave cheese and cold cuts in their packaging after they have been opened.

Please only portion all ingredients on small plates and bowls as required.

Divide pieces of butter and store in the freezer.

Beware of dirty spoons and knives: It is recommended that jams and marmalades be filled into small portion containers. Only cut bread, hard cheese, and hard sausage on porcelain boards.
