Bakes Apples
The distinctive aroma of baked apples is a unique experience in itself. The apple, sourced from local orchards and stored dry in the cellar, is a particularly significant ingredient at Christmas time, with varieties including Cripps Pink, Gala, Golden Delicious, Boskoop or Rubens. Even in summer, the apple is not able to lend such significance to the Advent season.
The preparation of baked apples is simple, inexpensive and varied. Baked apples can be served as a standalone dish or as a dessert. They can be garnished with creams, sauces and other fruits, filled with flavours or served as slices with hearty or game dishes.
This page presents typical oven dishes for baked apples and offers serving ideas for this local delicacy.
