Teardrops

A drop of water slowly detaching from an icicle and falling to the ground inspired us in the winter of 2004 to create an entirely new porcelain design. Over the years, this idea evolved into the versatile, avant-garde porcelain line Teardrops, featuring 25 bowls and plates for food presentation.

From this idea, the Showplates, culinary presentation plates (Food-Presenters), were born in 2005, laying the foundation for the Teardrops design line. The Food-Presenters are primarily designed to showcase culinary highlights.

The success of the Showplates encouraged us to translate their design language into a bowl form. In 2006, at the Frankfurt Spring Fair Ambiente, we introduced the Swingbowls for the first time—shallow, elegantly contoured bowls with raised, flowing edges available in five sizes.

In 2007, responding to customer demand, we expanded the Teardrops range to include T-Plates, deep plates available in four sizes. In 2008, we combined carafes, sauce boats, and pourers into a new series called Jugs, followed in 2012 by the food bowls Bowlcups.

At the end of 2024, we introduced the Slimbowls to the Teardrops design line—a series of bowls in three sizes that not only adopted the avant-garde design but also provided a significant functional advantage over traditional porcelain bowls: these bowls save an enormous amount of space!

Currently (as of January 2025), the distinctive pointed, asymmetric design of Teardrops unites five distinct series of bowls and plates as Food-Presenters, emphasizing the aesthetic appeal of everyday and culinary dishes.

Traditionally handcrafted, the Teardrops collection is made from high-quality feldspar porcelain with medium shard thickness, combining unique design with the essential functional features of professional gastronomy porcelain.

And when you’re not using Teardrops for serving food, the bowls and plates serve wonderfully as stylish home decor accessories.
