Osaka - white Japanese-style porcelain
The characters ???? represent the refined art of Teppanyaki, which combines the craftsmanship of cooking on a steel plate with an artistic presentation of dishes. For serving culinary specialities in Japanese style, we have adapted the original forms of traditional Japanese festive tableware into the Osaka porcelain series.
Three bowls and four plate sizes of the Osaka series form the Japanese component of Holst Porzellan's East Asian porcelain line YoYo. Osaka stands for a square arrangement with an elevated rim, a symbol of prosperity and wealth.
According to European porcelain manufacturing standards, it is difficult to precisely distinguish the plates and bowls of the Osaka series, as the plates have a certain depth due to their edge design, while the porcelain bowls are flatter than Western salad and side dish bowls.
Thanks to high-quality professional porcelain, made of pure feldspar porcelain and fired at over 1,320 °C, the Osaka series achieves high resistance to mechanical, thermal, and chemical stresses despite its finely executed edges. This commercial and gastronomic suitability of the Osaka bowls and plates is one of the key differences compared to most other East Asian tableware series on the market. Notably, coloured Japanese bowls are often made of ceramic, which is vastly inferior to porcelain in terms of durability.
Avoiding thermal shock, the Osaka bowls and plates can also be used for Japanese Teppanyaki directly on hot plates, as they withstand thermal stability up to 350 °C. It is also worth mentioning that they are microwave-safe, dishwasher-resistant, hypoallergenic, vegan, and highly hygienic, key properties of genuine professional porcelain.
Beyond Japanese cuisine, the Osaka porcelain bowls and plates also provide an elegant setting for many dishes. A simple green salad in an Osaka salad bowl, a pasta dish, desserts, or even mussels acquire a unique and sophisticated touch when served in these bowls and plates.
