Mausi-Bear – the ultimate child-friendly porcelain

Ever since porcelain has been around, porcelain makers have been trying their hand at creating children's tableware. Colourful, bright designs are combined with carrot purée, Bolognese sauce and spinach. Pocahontas, Jim Button and the Turtles are popular, and little girls love Hello Kitty. In more than 60 years of work, we have found that there is more that can go wrong than right with children's tableware. During their formative years, children go through so many stages of development that you would have to buy new children's tableware every three months. As a hotel or restaurant operator, you would have to stock more than ten different types of tableware for this guest group in order to be truly child-friendly – that's simply not possible!

Every porcelain manufacturer has at least two children's cups with one (1) handle! However, the children we are targeting with a children's cup cannot hold it with one hand or on their own! Do we give children milk that is so hot that the cup needs a handle? Porridge bowls in children's tableware sets usually hold more than 600 g. Children who eat porridge are usually full after 190 to 250 g. We believe that just because a piece of porcelain is painted in a fun way, it does not necessarily make it suitable for children. Children grow from 44 to 158 cm (mothers know what we mean) and at 104 cm, rompers are a thing of the past. These age groups place just as many different demands on children's tableware. This has prompted us, in keeping with our motto ‘Simple & Strong’, to put together a small, completely colour-neutral selection of interesting and child-friendly porcelain shapes to offer you the greatest possible variety for children and young people as a guest group. In our experience, the design and presentation of food are much more important than colourful motifs. A carrot stuck in the porridge as a funny nose gives a child much more than a Pinocchio spilled in the porridge!

If you google children's tableware, you will hardly find any real children's porcelain. The pictures of plastic tableware, ceramic tableware and other materials are beautifully colourful, but in many cases they are not conducive to a healthy diet. White porcelain without decorated food surfaces guarantees hygienic stability and anti-allergic properties, which are so important for the healthy development of children and infants.
