Trend plate with high rim
Plates and platters with high rims are similar to ladies' pompoms. They are elegant and graceful to look at, often modern and extravagant, but take some getting used to when carrying.
Plates with a high rim have the disadvantage of limited stackability and are only partially stable when placed on top of each other. Large plates with a high rim should therefore be placed vertically next to each other. If you use a plate support, such as the extendable stainless steel element from Ikea, you get the best stability.
In all other usage properties, the high rim plate is on a par with normal coup and flag plates - it just looks better and more modern. The almost right-angled rising rim even offers greater stability when removing food with a fork and spoon, because the rim can be used like a loading ramp. Children, people with limited motor skills and senior citizens appreciate this practical aspect of the high rim.
