The Spanish name "Granito" comes from the magmatic granite, which, like porcelain, obtains its enormous hardness through the fusion of feldspar and quartz. The seventh reactive glaze development by Holst on true hard porcelain is dedicated to this primordial rock, which symbolizes natural stability and durability. Hardly any other earthly material could better represent the good qualities of porcelain than granite. The color of "Granito" porcelain is inspired by gray sedimentary granite, which, with its countless brown reactive pigments on the matte glaze, reflects the character of neo-archaic granite. The matte glaze appears elegant and only reveals its connection to the family of reactive porcelain upon closer inspection. The edges are adorned with a hand-applied brown brush band, thus bridging it to the other reactive series from Holst Porzellan.
