Carmen - Gourmet Soup Plates
The gourmet plates Carmen are a further development of the typical pasta bowl, which, with their filling quantities of 400-900 g, are usually much too large for exquisite dishes. Due to their special shape, the Carmen plates are not only smaller, but also more special.
The deep plates with the wide rims have long since developed beyond Italian pasta and today provide an attractive setting for many types of starters, main courses and desserts. In their extreme design with a minimal serving area, they are also often referred to as ‘Mexican hats’.
When Alfred Bioleck held an oversized deep plate in front of the camera during his cooking show in 1998 and proclaimed it the Alfredissimo plate, it was born: the pasta bowl! Although this plate shape had been part of the standard range of Italian porcelain manufacturers for decades, it was only with Bioleck that it finally made the breakthrough. Holst Porzellan has been selling these plates in its ‘Pasta-Klassik’ range since 1997 in the sizes 27 and 30 cm.
For many buyers, the dimensions of the large pasta bowl are too bulky and it is also too unwieldy to handle. Some dishwashers are even too high for these plates, which are also relatively unsuitable for starters and desserts.
We have further developed the typical pasta bowl, reducing it to the more manageable sizes of 20 and 25 cm, and have stylishly adapted the serving surfaces to the majority of dishes used, with filling quantities of 160 and 250 g. To make these plates even more distinctive, we have given the rim a large, concave shape, so that it not only emphasises the food in a more elegant and expressive way, but can also be decorated as desired.
Made of high-quality feldspar porcelain and fired at 1,320°C in a semi-thick body, the Carmen gourmet plate not only looks elegant but also, important for the catering industry, such as stackability, dishwasher resistance, microwave suitability, thermal and hygienic stability, as well as high resistance to chemical and mechanical stress. Carmen gourmet plates are elegant, functional and fit in almost any kitchen cupboard.
