Holst Porzellan is one of the few manufacturers to produce a genuine black shimmering reactive effect glaze on authentic, extremely durable hard porcelain. The name Carbon describes a shimmering, shaded form of black and a material that humans have coveted for centuries. We extract it from deep within the earth, just like the raw materials for porcelain. In this way, the name and origin of our first porcelain series in the Reactive Trend collection are connected.

Carbon has an empowering, fast, noble and valuable effect on us. Carbon combines the simplicity of a colour shade with the expression of power, success and modern spirit. This explains the natural success of this porcelain series, which immediately established itself as the number one in our reactive collection. Carbon porcelain makes the dishes presented simply modern, innovative and successful.

Similar to mother-of-pearl, the black porcelain appears, reflects and sparkles – when viewed from different angles – sometimes black, silver, grey or even subtly black-greenish. The slightly raised colour dots give – like a hologram – the porcelain seemingly different depths. Carbon has a dark and exciting glaze. No piece is like another. It is characterised by high uniqueness and combines modern spirit with traditional craftsmanship values. Carbon stands out from the ordinary and gives dishes a very impressive presentation. After the first biscuit firing, the hotel porcelain is dipped into a carbon-coloured glaze and then fired. In a further process, metallic pigments are applied and it is fired again. This process, although relatively expensive compared to single firing, ultimately ensures the unique design and 100% professional suitability of the reactive version of hard porcelain.
