The history of burgers began around 1880 in the USA with the hamburger, a product of cultural fusion and culinary evolution. The typical ‘Hamburger steak’ (ground beef with onions) was developed into a burger by various snack bar owners in the USA and began its successful journey from New York, St. Louis and Connecticut in three different variations. In 1967, Jim Delligatti invented the Big Mac, putting burger variations on the road to success.
While burgers were purely a snack or fast food dish until the 1980s, today new types of restaurants have developed around these filled buns, especially for younger consumers. Burger restaurants of all kinds and varying quality levels have conquered city centre gastronomy in particular.
The high rents for the shop premises are offset by lower personnel costs, high footfall and a concentrated menu that promises success in a good atmosphere.
The burger tableware must not only look modern and appealing, but also be able to withstand the high stresses and strains of a ‘fast-paced restaurant’. With our range of high-quality feldspar porcelain, we distance ourselves from the term ‘burger tableware’ and underline our claim to be ‘burger porcelain’. Mostly coloured burger ceramics are fired at a significantly lower temperature than porcelain and are not comparable in terms of durability and resistance.
