Holst Porzellan is one of the few manufacturers to produce a genuine iridescent black reactive glaze on genuine, extremely resistant hard porcelain. The name Carbon describes an iridescent, shaded form of black and a material that humans have coveted for centuries. We extract it from the depths of the earth, just like the raw materials for porcelain. This is how the name and origin of our first porcelain series in the Reactive Trend collection are connected.
Carbon has a powerful, fast, elegant and expensive effect on us humans. Carbon combines the simplicity of a colour nuance with the representation of power, success and modern zeitgeist. This explains the obvious success of this porcelain series, which immediately became the number one product in our reactive collection on the market. Carbon porcelain makes the food presented on it easy, innovative and successful.
Similar to mother-of-pearl, the black porcelain shimmers, reflects and glitters – depending on the angle from which it is viewed – sometimes black, sometimes silver, sometimes grey or even a subtle black-greenish. The slightly raised colour dots give the porcelain seemingly different depths, like a hologram. Carbon has a dark and exciting glaze. No two pieces are alike. It is characterised by its unique position and combines the modern spirit of the times with traditional craftsmanship values. Carbon stands out from the ordinary and gives food a very impressive appearance. After the first biscuit firing, the hotel porcelain is dipped in a carbon-coloured glaze and then fired. In a further process, metallic pigments are applied and it is fired once more. Although this process is relatively expensive compared to single firing, it ultimately ensures the unique design and 100% commercial suitability of the reactive hard porcelain.
